Researchers have studied differences in how barrows and gilts are managed to determine opportunities available for producers to feed or manage the two populations for greater profits.

In July, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam issued a document approving the use of a vaccine against African swine fever (ASF).

The two vaccines used will be the first to receive approval and licensed against ASF worldwide. Prior to approval, over 600,000 shots were administered in farms across the country, and the results found more than 95% of the vaccinated pigs showed a high antibody response.

A USDA assessment conducted from April to May also confirmed the results of vaccine research and production.
