Story Shorts: Poultry price-fixing trial delayed

Pilgrim’s Pride CEO Jayson Penn’s price-fixing trial has been delayed until February 2021.

Penn was recently indicted with several other poultry executives on counts of price fixation and bid rigging. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence up to 10 years and a $1 million fine.

The trial was allegedly delayed on account of both sides requesting more time to prepare. The indictment came as a result of a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation, and shortly before the DOJ began a similar investigation into the beef industry.
