Beyond Meat announced it is rolling out its newest product, a plant-based steak, into 5,000 supermarkets, including Kroger and Walmart.
The Beyond Steak comes in 10-ounce packages with bite-sized pieces and will retail for $7.99.
It’s “designed to deliver the juicy, tender, and delicious bite of sliced steak tips,” a Beyond Meat spokesperson told Axios.
According to the company, it uses fava bean protein as its base, contains 21 grams of protein per serving, and has a lower saturated fat content than beef steak.
The announcement comes after Beyond Meat announced it is laying off 200 employees amid steep revenue declines.
