SUPERIOR LIVESTOCK VIDEO AUCTION

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live Oct. 2 from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, TX. Cattle producers sold 17,833 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock totaling 164 lots from 21 states for this offering. Strong buyer participation from several bidders throughout the auction resulted in 62 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through May 2026.

Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers started the auction fully steady, followed by feeder heifers, which saw some weakness at $4-7 lower. Heifers with quality genetics were in high demand, giving strong evidence that heifer retention is still trending. Regions 1/2 feeders and calves were only lightly tested but were well received at a steady trend following the last auction. Beef-on-dairy were also steady with genetics playing an important role in buyer interest.

Regions 3/4/5/6 weaned calves at lighter weights were in strong demand, highlighted by a set of 450-pound steer calves on cows at $570/cwt, and 375-lb. steer calves at $600/cwt. Bred heifers were lightly tested but highly sought after with 900-lb. Louisiana heifers early spring calving at $3,850.
