A ribbon cutting was held on March 24 for the soon-to-open Sustainable Beef plant in North Platte, NE, according to the North Platte Bulletin.
The $400 million facility, under construction for two-and-a-half years, is set to process its first beef in May. Over 1,000 people toured the nearly completed plant at the ribbon cutting. Chief Operating Officer Bill Rupp emphasized that Sustainable Beef will change industry dynamics by increasing overall profits rather than redistributing existing margins.
Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) highlighted Nebraska’s leadership in cattle production and North Platte’s emerging role in beef processing innovation. Project milestones and key contributors were recognized at the ceremony.
