The Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America (R-CALF) submitted comments to an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) notice on farms reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The EPA’s notice was reconsidering its decision to exempt farms from reporting GHG emissions. R-CALF urged the EPA to exempt all farming and ranching operations, farmer-sized feedlots and mid-sized feedlots, along with redefining its definitions of how it classifies operations.
“The EPA should refrain from imposing any additional regulatory burdens on America’s family farmers and ranchers as doing so will only accelerate the unfavorable transition from an environment-friendly family farm and ranch system of food production to an environmentally taxing large-scale industrial system marked by high concentration and centralization,” the group said.
