Nebraska’s newest meat processing facility, Sustainable Beef LLC in North Platte, began processing cattle on May 28, according to local news outlet KNOP.

CEO David Briggs shared, “Today, we are doing two loads of 80 head. We should be doing that for about three weeks, then ramp up from there, eventually processing 1,500 head per day and employing 850 individuals.”

The facility, which currently employs 200 people, aims to reach full capacity by Christmas.

McPherson County rancher Rusty Kemp expressed excitement, saying, “From where this started to where we are now is amazing … This facility is going to make every calf, yearling, and feeder in the state worth more.”

Despite the success, Briggs emphasized that the real work begins now as they implement plans to benefit the cattlemen and the North Platte community.
