A bill before the Oregon House of Representatives seeks to tie compensation prices for wolf kills to the state’s wolf population. Effectively, the more wolves in the state, the larger the compensation fund would need to be, by law, if Oregon House Bill 4106 passes. The bill is slightly bipartisan, with one Democrat joining three Republicans in sponsorship. The bill was submitted Jan. 22 and is expected to be heard Feb. 5 when the Legislature returns to session. — WLJ
