About Helen Dianne Parrish-Read
Helen Dianne Parrish-Read, affectionately known as Dianne, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 9 at the age of 65 at her beloved ranch. Born on June 27, 1960, in Sanford, NC, Dianne grew up in a family led by her father, Harlan, a career military man. Because of his service, the family moved frequently, living in North Carolina, Florida and Texas, eventually settling in California upon his retirement. Afterward, the Parrish family moved to Yakima, WA, where Dianne graduated from high school.
In 1990, Dianne embarked on a new journey, moving to Wamic, OR, to begin a fresh career. It was there she met her life partner, Kenny Read, whom she married on Sept. 21, 1991. Together, they founded Bar KD Ranch, where raising elite Angus cattle became Dianne’s passion. Their efforts flourished, selling bulls throughout the western U.S. and establishing their own sale. Dianne was creative and always embraced challenges.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Ella Parrish. She is survived by her daughter, Nicole, her son-in-law, Alex Lawson, and their children, Harlan and Ella. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Amanda, along with Amanda’s children Josiah, Mason, Crater, Lilly and Bryson; as well as her stepson, James Read, and James’s children Kody (with his wife, Sydney, and their daughter, Elowyn), Kenneth, Blakeley and Charles Read. Dianne is also remembered by her partner, Kenny Read; her sister, Clarie; her brothers, Pete (with Leslie) and Kenny (with Emma); her sister, June (with Donny); and many nephews.
A celebration of Dianne’s life will be held at the ranch on June 27, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and mark the milestones of her remarkable journey.
