A group of conservation groups has agreed with the Biden administration, Oregon, Washington and several Tribes to an additional pause in litigation over Snake River dam operations for an additional 45 days.
The litigation challenges hydropower operations on the Snake River for not doing enough to save salmon from extinction. The litigation has been on hold for the past two years and was set to resume, but a pause has been extended until Dec. 15.
By this date, the plaintiffs and federal defendants will either request a multi-year stay of the litigation while a proposed plan to restore salmon is implemented, or the court battle will continue.
“On an issue this important, we need to take more time to see if we can move forward outside of the courtroom,” said Earthjustice Senior Attorney Amanda Goodin.
