A former Tyson Foods plant maintenance manager pleaded guilty for defrauding the company out of more than $416,000 at its Emporia, KS, plant. David John Ranger created a fake company and used Tyson cards to divert Tyson payments to pay for his own expenses.
He pleaded guilty to wire fraud April 28 and is due for sentencing July 28. Ranger’s scheme took place from December 2012 to April 2019 under his fake company, Electric Motor Repair Service.
From September 2013 he used company cards for personal expenses and received deposits for work he claimed Electric Motor Repair Services provided for Tyson. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors will dismiss a forfeiture charge and recommend a lighter sentence.
