The Biden administration will propose rules to revoke changes made by the Trump administration to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) in January, removing penalties for companies that accidentally or incidentally kill migratory birds.
“Interior will issue a proposed rule to revoke the corresponding rule that is going into effect today,” Tyler Cherry, an Interior spokesperson, said in a statement March 8.
The Department of the Interior has already taken steps to undo the Trump administration rule. On Feb. 5, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service delayed the effective date of the changes until March 8 and reopened the public comment period on whether the rule should be amended or be allowed to go into effect.
