A coalition of conservation groups has already filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration for its recent rollbacks to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
President Donald Trump finalized the rollbacks on July 14, calling them a “top to bottom overhaul.” The changes will speed up NEPA reviews and set two-year limits for issuing environmental impact statements (EIS).
Critics argue the rollbacks will harm the environment and hurt disadvantaged communities. The lawsuit, made up of over 20 plaintiffs, claims the administration did not prepare an environmental assessment or EIS on its final rule and acted “arbitrarily, capriciously, and contrary to law.”
