The Department of the Interior (DOI) has formally granted Nada Culver the authority to perform the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) director’s duties.
Acting DOI Secretary Scott de la Vega issued a secretarial order on March 5 that formally puts Culver in charge of BLM. The order remains in place through May 31 or until the Senate confirms a nominee for a director position.
President Joe Biden is not expected to name a BLM director until the Senate confirms Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM) as secretary of DOI.
