Producers and landowners are able to apply for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) through Aug. 20. USDA updated signup options to include greater incentives, a minimum rental rate and two national priority zones.
“Bottom line, CRP now makes more financial sense for producers while also providing a bigger return on investment in terms of natural resource benefits,” said Farm Service Agency Administrator Zach Ducheneaux.
The minimum rental rate was updated to $15 per acre. Grasslands enrolled in the Greater Yellowstone Elk Migration Corridor and the Severe Wind Erosion-Dust Bowl Zone will get extra ranking points and an extra $5 added to their rental rate.
To sign up, contact your local USDA Service Center, which can be found at www.farmers.gov/service-center-locator.
