Legal Ledger Brief: CO wildfire recovery proposal

Following the Marshall Fire in Boulder County, CO, Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO-02), co-chair of the Wildfire Caucus, unveiled legislation to help prevent future wildfires and support recovery efforts.

The Western Wildfire Support Act would allow communities across the western U.S. to acquire training, equipment and funding they need to combat fires, Neguse said.

The plan includes measures to support prevention, suppression and recovery, such as creating fire management plans, providing funding, expediting the placement of wildfire detection equipment, establishing a grant program to acquire equipment and combating wildfire-related invasive species.
