Last Monday, Brazilian authorities formally asked that charges be brought against the Batista brothers, Wesley and Joesley, for insider trading. It was alleged that they made over $44 million by selling their shares of JBS before bribery accusations were leveled against them and made public. The brothers have been in jail since early September and a Sept. 22 request that they be released was denied. The pair’s father and namesake of the company, Josй Batista Sobrinho, has returned to control of JBS.
