To meet rising demand, particularly from fast food chains, JBS, S.A. recently announced that it has invested 13 million Brazilian real (R$) in expanding hamburger production at two of its units located in the state of Sгo Paulo, Brazil. The company invested R$ 9 million in its Lins plant to raise output 30 percent and invested an additional R$ 4 million at its plant in Osasco. The company said investments were focused on modernizing production lines to meet customers’ stringent quality criteria. Beyond acquiring new equipment and making structural changes to accommodate the machinery, the Lins plant has created an extra shift to boost output and hired another 130 employees. In addition to increasing production, the investments will also help ensure the plants are able to maintain high quality standards and meet customers’ expectations JBS plans to continue expanding its retail and food service operations through ongoing efficiency improvements, according to a company statement. — WLJ
