Ground beef recalled due to possible E. coli

Color differences in ground meat is due to changes in the natural color pigments

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Illinois-based Valley Meats LLC has recalled approximately 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The ground beef items were produced on Dec. 22 and bear the establishment number “EST. 5712” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan distributors for further distribution to restaurants and other institutional users.

The products recalled are boxes of ground beef patties in 12-24-lb. boxes with a use-by date of 1/15/2024 and run no. 3356GRDB. Also recalled was ground beef in 20-lb. and 40-lb. boxes with product codes 8515 and 8020VP.
