Select Sires Inc. announced in November the transition of GeneNet operations into Low Carbon Technologies (LCT).
Acquired by Select Sires in 2021, GeneNet has collaborated with packing partners to enhance grid structures and premiums for cattle ranchers and dairy farmers. In 2022, LCT was formed to assist agricultural producers in contributing to improved sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and earning premiums for low-carbon production practices.
Through its USDA-approved Process Verified Program, LCT certifies beef and dairy produced with reduced GHG emissions, meeting the demands of environmentally conscious consumers. The transition aligns with Select Sires’ dedication to sustainability and recognizes the growing significance of the beef-dairy cross-sector in sustainable beef production.
Mark Johnson, director of LCT supply chains, will lead the initiative between GeneNet and LCT. The move highlights the commitment to delivering value to producers and accelerating LCT’s growth and success in the evolving beef-dairy cross market.
