The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) Junior Sale of Champions proved, again, to be a major success for the 296 youth exhibitors that came from across Texas to show their livestock at the 2026 FWSSR. More than $10,193,000 was raised in the Stock Show’s legendary youth auction.
“Our amazing buyers at the Junior Sale of Champions make a tremendous investment in these incredible youth that participate in our show,” said Stock Show President and General Manager Matt Carter. “A huge thank you to the Fort Worth community that supports these young men and women who will make sure tomorrow’s livestock industry and food security is in good hands.”
Trico Electric withstood all other bidders in the Watt Arena with their $550,000 nod for the Grand Champion Steer, a European crossbred owned by Caiman Cody, who is a 4-H member from Tolar, TX. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer was shown by Cash Goretska, a 4-H member from Abilene, TX. Goretska’s steer was purchased by Hillwood, a Perot company, for $300,000.
The Grand Champion Barrow, a crossbred shown by Corsicana, TX, FFA member Kamden Montfort, went for a final bid of $120,000 from Standard Meat Company. Bobby & J.J. Norris and Kimberlin Ranches topped the bidding at $70,000 for the Reserve Grand Champion Barrow, exhibited by Adalynn Peugh, an FFA member from Ackerly, TX.
The Grand Champion Wether Lamb, a Medium Wool crossbred shown by 4-H member Holden Wise from Brownwood, TX, was purchased by Ladies on the Lamb and Andrews Distributing Company for $90,000. Karson Neuse, a 4-H member from New Braunfels, TX, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb that sold for $50,000. Ladies on the Lamb purchased Neuse’s Medium Wool crossbred.
Cayson Newell, a 4-H member from Lott, TX, sold the Grand Champion Wether Goat for $50,000 to LKCM Headwater and Luther King Capital Management. The Reserve Grand Champion Wether Goat was exhibited by Holden Wise, a 4-H member from Brownwood, TX, and fetched a winning bid of $30,000 from Big City Crushed Concrete and the Law Office of Jason Mills.
The Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate, along with Women Steering Business, Band of Barrows, U Ol’ Goat Committee, Ladies on the Lamb and the Tallest Hog at the Trough Syndicate were responsible for the purchase of all animals offered in the Junior Sale of Champions. — FWSSR
