The Regional Conservation Partnership Program’s Cropland Cover Initiative is available to producers in southwest Nebraska for funding to plant cover crops on their cropland.

Producers in Frontier, Furnas, Harlan, Hayes, Hitchcock and Red Willow counties have until Nov. 17 to apply for financial and technical assistance to ag producers who adopt multispecies cover-crop mixtures to improve soil health and wildlife habitat.

Multispecies cover crops can be planted in the spring for an entire growing season or after wheat or other summer-harvested crops, and grazing is allowed.
