The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced it will end the period for accepting waivers regarding beef slaughter inspection regulations on Jan. 31, 2026.

These waivers are designed to support experimentation with new procedures, equipment and processing techniques, provided food safety and compliance with the Federal Meat Inspection Act are maintained. Establishments can submit applications through askFSIS at tinyurl.com/9v23z2zn by selecting the “New Technology” Inquiry Type on or before the deadline.

Moving forward, establishments that receive similar waivers must implement the approved alternative procedures within six months or risk termination.
