After consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured and relocated two grizzly bears in August due to separate livestock depredation incidents.
A male bear was relocated to the Five Mile Creek drainage near Yellowstone’s east entrance, while a female bear was moved to the Mormon Creek drainage west of Cody, WY.
Relocation occurs when other deterrents are exhausted, with sites chosen based on the bear’s age, sex, conflict type and potential human activity in the area.
