The Idaho Department of Labor announced Nov. 17 that CS Beef Packers, LLC will use a grant worth over $1 million from the state’s Workforce Development Training Fund to hire and train 701 new workers for permanent full-time positions at its Kuna, ID, facilities. Positions to be trained include production workers, drivers, safety technicians and supervisors, and will pay an average wage of $17.28 per hour. Training will focus on food processing safety, OSHA standards and meat master equipment training. CS Beef Packers offers a number of meat processing services including packing, rendering and tanning hides. The company was formed in January 2015 as a partnership between Texas-based Caviness Beef Packers and the Boise, ID-based JR Simplot Company. In May 2017 CS Beef completed construction and began operations of its state-of-the-art green-field beef plant.
