In Pete Crow’s Comments column last week (“Friend or Foe” in the Oct. 9 issue), he wrote that the Oklahoma Beef Council is audited every year by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. This was incorrect. A third-party accounting firm annually audits the Oklahoma Beef Council. Additionally, the IRS was among one of the three third-party groups that audited Oklahoma Beef Council during one of the years during which the fraud occurred. We apologize for the error and welcome reader feedback on mistakes in both news items and opinion pieces.
CORRECTION: Oklahoma checkoff audits
