The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service opened a public comment period for input on the recovery plan for the Chupadera springsnail.

The species is an endangered freshwater snail found in Socorro County, NM. The plan’s goal is to recover the species so it no longer needs Endangered Species Act protections. The draft plan defines actions that help contribute to the snail’s recovery, time and cost estimates, and objective and measurable criteria for downlisting and delisting.

The plan can be read in its entirety at cos.fws.gov/ecp/species/6644.
