Following news of livestock disease outbreaks in several countries, China has prohibited imports of sheep, goats, poultry and even-toed ungulates from African, Asian and European countries.
The ban also includes processed and processed livestock products, according to a Reuters report. The countries affected include Ghana, Somalia, Qatar, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, Bulgaria, East Timor and Eritrea. The move comes following reports from the World Organisation for Animal Health of various disease outbreaks. The country also halted imports from countries in the Middle East due to sheep pox and goat pox outbreaks.
