The California Department of Water Resources announced it increased the 2025 State Water Project (SWP) allocation to 20% of requested supplies, up from 15% in December.

The agency said despite dry conditions, reservoir storage remains above average. Lake Oroville, the state’s largest SWP reservoir, is at 127% of its seasonal average, while San Luis Reservoir is at 102%. Southern California’s reservoirs also remain near or above historical levels. SWP serves 27 million Californians through 29 public water agencies.
