Bureau of Reclamation

The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) has published a Federal Register notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for proposed North-to-South Water Transfers in California.

Beginning as soon as 2028, the transfers would move water from willing sellers in Northern California, upstream of the Delta, to buyers south of the Delta and in the Bay Area. Designed to supplement declining supplies and meet existing demands, transfers would require annual approval.

Two virtual scoping meetings are scheduled for September, with written comments accepted through Oct. 3 via email to Nicole Johnson at njohnson@usbr.gov. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/4rtxxds9.
