Boar’s Head settles for $3.1M in listeria case

Boar’s Head Provisions Co. agreed to settle for $3.1 million in a class action settlement regarding last summer’s listeria outbreak linked to the company’s deli products.

In July 2024, the company recalled more than 7 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, subsequently closing its processing plant in Virginia where the recalled products were produced. More than 60 people were hospitalized and 10 died from listeria complications.

In a suit filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the company admitted to no wrongdoing but agreed to settle for $3.1 million.

Consumers who purchased certain Boar’s Head products between May 10, 2024, and Aug. 12, 2024, can be reimbursed. Claims must be filed by May 16 at coldcutrecallsettlement.com.
