Boar’s Head announced it has reopened its Jarratt, VA, deli meat facility, which was linked to a 2024 listeriosis outbreak suspected in 10 deaths.
Meatingplace reported the plant resumed operations on Feb. 2 following extensive renovations and the adoption of the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Listeria monocytogenes control program. The facility, previously under state cooperative inspection, reopened under direct FSIS oversight, with mandatory in-plant data collection to verify the effectiveness of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point.
Meatingplace noted Boar’s Head has expanded sanitation protocols, third-party training and enhanced sampling across all facilities as part of broader food-safety reforms.
