The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has reduced by half the size of its proposed Lava Ridge Wind Project near Twin Falls, ID.

The new preferred alternative lowers the number of turbines from 400 to 241 and imposes max height limits of 660 feet.

The agency said the alternative also reduces impacts to sage grouse, large wildlife migration routes and winter concentration areas, cultural resources, Jerome County Airport and agricultural aviation uses, public land ranchers, and adjacent private landowners.
