The Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act, introduced by Rep. David Taylor (R-OH-02), combines legislation that intends to cut red tape to streamline the regulatory review process.
The PERMIT Act includes provisions from Taylor’s Confidence in Clean Water Permits Act, which would ensure businesses acting in good faith within their waste disposal permits are not unfairly penalized or overwhelmed by burdensome government regulations.
“The bill details that the EPA, not businesses themselves, possesses the ultimate responsibility to test and provide guidance for the detection of possible environmental pollutants,” Taylor said.
The bill passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in late June on a vote of 34-30.
