The cultivated-meat company Believer Meats is reportedly ceasing its operations.
In a LinkedIn post, company HR director Anne Schubert wrote, “After two years of building something bold and ambitious, my journey with Believer Meats has come to an end. Many Believer employees are now seeking our next opportunity.”
While the company has not yet made a formal announcement, AgFunderNews reported that employees were told at a town meeting in November that the company was attempting to secure 11th hour funding.
The news comes shortly after it was revealed Believer Meats was sued by a construction company for allegedly failing to make payments on $34 million in bills for construction costs. The cultivated meat company announced the completed construction of a 200,000-square-foot production facility in Wilson, NC, in July.
