The Idaho Beef Council teamed up with the Idaho Steelheads, the Idaho Foodbank and Agri-Beef Co. for Beef Night on the Ice at the Steelheads’ hockey game Jan. 13. In addition to beef-themed giveaways and discounts on hamburgers and hotdogs, Idaho’s ranching community—including industry partners, the Idaho Beef Council, the Idaho Cattle Association, and the Idaho Cattlewomen’s Association—made contributions to the Beef Counts program, which gives Idahoans access to high quality, nutritious beef through the Idaho Foodbank. For each individual donation, Agri Beef provided a 50 percent match. Additionally, $1 from each ticket sold at this game was donated to Beef Counts. Since the program’s inception, more than 1.1 million servings of beef have been donated to The Idaho Foodbank. At press time the total amount of donations from this event was still being tallied. — WLJ
