Every year since 1955, the prime rib fanatics at Lawry’s The Prime Rib have been throwing annual pre-Rose Bowl dinners (titled The Beef Bowl) at their restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA. The red carpeted event actually takes place over two afternoons, one for each team playing in the football game, and acts as a sort of welcoming committee to incoming football players, athletic directors, and coaching staff. More than 21,480 players and coaches have been served at Beef Bowl events with more than 84,100 pounds of prime rib consumed, according to Todd Erickson, the event’s publicist. The teams enjoying the feast this year were the Georgia Bulldogs and the Oklahoma Sooners. The result of the football game on Jan. 1 saw Georgia come out on top 54-48 in double overtime.
