Beef Bits Brief: New beef plant coming to Idaho

True West Beef, owned by Boise, ID-based company Agri Beef, has announced plans to build a new beef processing plant in Jerome, ID.

The facility will process 500 head of cattle a day and employ 400 workers, reported news outlet Times-News. Agri Beef currently operates Washington Beef in Toppenish, WA, which processes 1,550 head a day.

“We evaluated many sites for this venture,” Agri Beef Executive Vice President of Business Development Wade Small said in a statement. “With an educated and motivated workforce, access to plentiful agricultural resources, and a vibrant community with a can-do spirit, Jerome and Idaho checked the box for everything we were looking for.”
