Beef Bits Brief: More fake meat

Beyond Meat has added yet another item to their line of plant-based meat products. This time, the plant-based protein will be taking on the form of “beef crumbles” in an attempt to replicate ground beef.

The company wrote in a social media post that the product “… delivers the versatility, meaty texture and juiciness of ground beef with less of the baggage!”

The announcement of the beef crumbles comes shortly after the company released a new line of “meatier” plant-based beef patties in mid-June. The protein will consist of pea, mung bean and rice, much like its predecessor, the Beyond Burger.

The product is expected to hit stores June 24 and will be available at several chains including Whole Foods and HEB.
