China’s customs office said on Feb. 24 it had conditionally lifted a ban on beef and beef products from U.S. cattle more than 30 months old.
This move is a result of the country’s pledge to increase farm purchases from the U.S. under the Phase One trade deal.
The General Administration of Customs said inspection and quarantine requirements on the beef and beef products will be set and released separately.
China recently said it would decrease tariffs on U.S. goods, including soybeans, beef and pork.
China lifted its 14-year ban on U.S. beef in 2017, allowing beef imports from U.S. cattle under 30 months of age.
