Caviness Beef Packers headquartered in Amarillo, TX, announced on Aug. 13 that it plans to expand its beef facility in Hereford, TX, to enable the addition of a second harvest and processing shift.
The expansion will allow the facility to process an additional 800 head per day, bringing the total daily capacity to 2,600 head. Construction for this project will begin in October 2018 with completion expected to be in early fall of 2019.
“Caviness is excited to expand its processing capacity at our Hereford plant. This location has been good to us and we have filled a need through the years. It is where it all started over 55 years ago in 1962 and we have been fortunate to be able to see continued growth,” said CEO Terry Caviness.
The mix of additional cattle to be harvested will come from regional ranchers, dairies, as well as area feedyards.
