Although chicken sandwiches have become increasingly popular in recent years, burgers remain the top entrйe item ordered at U.S. restaurants. The NDP Group, a market research company based out of New York, tracks how U.S. consumers use restaurants and other food service outlets.
In 2020, burgers were included in 13.5 percent of all restaurant orders, which amounts to 7 billion servings of burgers. Chicken sandwiches were included in about 6.7 percent of orders, which amounts to 3.5 billion servings.
However, servings of breaded chicken sandwiches increased by 8 percent last year compared to the year prior.
