Cleaver’s Organic, the Australian-originating organic and grass-fed beef company, has expanded its operations to the U.S. In doing so and as part of their mission, the company has achieved 100 percent carbon neutral status.

“Becoming a 100 percent carbon neutral meat company allows Cleaver’s to take responsibility for our footprint and our carbon emissions—across our entire business and every product we produce,” said founder and CEO Alister Ferguson.

The company achieved its status by compensating for all carbon emissions with activities that absorbed the same amount of carbon.

These activities are called carbon offsets, which represent one ton of carbon dioxide-equivalent greenhouse gas that has been prevented from entering the atmosphere, according to an official company statement.
