The nonprofit program Beef Bucks recently hosted the 17th annual Beef Bucks Golf Classic in Brandon, SD.
More than 50 teams from surrounding five states competed against colleagues, farmers, ranchers and processors for the title of champion.
Beef Bucks is an organization that aims to promote the beef industry as well as educate consumers. The nonprofit was started in 1997 in South Dakota.
“Beef Bucks” are pre-paid checks used to purchase beef or beef meals in the amounts of $5, $10 and $20.
The checks have been used in more than 40 states, and in establishments ranging from fast food to grocery stores and home delivery services.
“Over the course of time, thousands of pounds of beef have moved across the U.S. via Beef Bucks,” the organization said. “Beef Bucks isn’t just about selling the beef, it’s an industry working together, believing in their product and wanting to share one of America’s finest produced foods: delicious beef!”
