Top Producer annually recognizes a producer under the age of 25 who shows excellence in the business of farming. This year, Martin Angus was selected as the 2022 recipient of the Tomorrow’s Top Producer Horizon Award.
Brendan and Elaine Martin were recognized at the Top Producer Summit held in Nashville, TN, on Feb. 14. The couple has a diversified operation near Mt. Solon, VA, growing corn, alfalfa, small grains and hay and raising registered and commercial Angus, fed cattle and feeder calves.
In 2019, the Martins created Blue Cedar Beef, a direct-to-consumer beef business. They also do custom mowing and litter spreading, in addition to a custom trucking business. Brendan also owns Valley Herd Health, a large animal mobile veterinary practice.
Elaine does the record-keeping, payroll and financial management for the farm, as well as manages the cattle herd.
