Two beef plants in Australia are planning to resume exports to China by the end of the year.
Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell met with China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, China, where Wang said China would lift remaining trade restrictions on Australian exports, according to a Reuters report. Two beef plants have remained restricted since 2020 and 2021, after China cited labeling irregularities and technical issues.
Five other plants have had their bans lifted since earlier this summer. China is Australia’s biggest trading partner, with trade reaching $327 billion last year.
