Australia lifts ban on Canadian beef

On July 29, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced Australia is allowing Canadian beef and beef products back into the country for the first time since 2003.

Australia blocked Canadian imports following a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

“The Government of Canada remains committed to expanding international market opportunities for the country’s agri-food sector,” CFIA said. The news comes the week after Australia also announced beef access for the U.S.
