Alberta Beef Producers withdraw from CCA

The Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) Board of Directors will withdraw its membership from the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) effective July 1, 2026.

Chair Doug Roxburgh said national memberships must “deliver clear value” and meet ABP’s standards for transparency, governance and communication. He said the CCA has not met these standards despite repeated concerns.

ABP will meet all financial commitments to the CCA until June 30, 2026. The group currently funds over half the CCA budget through the $2 Alberta Service Charge. This decision will not affect funding for the Canadian Beef Cattle Check-Off Agency or its service providers, including Canada Beef, Public and Stakeholder Engagement and the Beef Cattle Research Council.
