Alberta beef has officially hit Costco meat cases in Mexico, CBC News reports.
Canadian Agriculture Minister Heath MacDonald joined JBS Canada and Costco Mexico representatives for a ribbon-cutting at a store near Mexico City, celebrating a deal that sends 20,000 tons of beef from Brooks, Alberta, to 41 Costco locations across the country.
“Days like today open the doors for the future,” MacDonald told CBC News. JBS Mexico’s Salvador Hernandez called the agreement a “new frontier” for Canadian beef in a market long dominated by U.S. imports, marking a significant win for Canada’s beef industry.
