The Department of the Interior announced the availability of $50 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for water conservation and efficiency projects.
The funding will boost the Bureau of Reclamation’s Water and Energy Efficiency Grants Program. The program provides cost-share funding through the WaterSMART Program to conserve water, increase hydropower production and other projects to supply water sustainability due to drought.
The Bureau of Reclamation is investing a total of $8.3 billion over five years for projects to water infrastructure projects. The additional funding builds upon previously announced funding announced in April as part of the $140 million designated for Water and Energy Efficiency grants in 2023.
